12% GST on Hostel Accommodation: Good or bad move?

Absolute masterpiece OR a Great Blunder?

Students staying in hostels or PG accommodations in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh will now have to pay 12% more as Goods and Services Tax (GST) on their rent. The authorities have ruled that hostels are not considered the same as regular homes and are not exempt from this tax.

This decision has raised concerns among students, young professionals, and families who rely on hostels and PGs when they move to new cities. People believe that education is a right and should not be made more expensive for those who are already struggling to afford it.

Adding to the worries, this comes after the government imposed a 30% tax on Digital Assets. Many see these moves as part of a broader political agenda rather than well-thought-out decisions to benefit the public.

With education costs already rising and a high 18% GST on educational services, this additional 12% GST on hostel accommodations could make it even harder for middle-class families to afford quality education.

Overall, people are frustrated with the government's increasing taxes and worry that it will make life more difficult for the common people.

Bravo to the brilliant minds behind the Central government! They seem to be on a mission to slap GST on everything just in time for the 2024 elections. Such a well-thought-out and definitely not political decision, of course!

And let's all give a standing ovation to the crystal-clear trend of the country's taxation system - moving from bad to worse without a shadow of a doubt! slow claps -----
